This Site: Overview
I have very few regrets in life. That's not to say that I haven't made some astronomically bad decisions. Still, when I look back on a situation that turned out to be a steaming pile of meadow pudding, I ask myself, "Did I make the best decision based on the information I knew at the time?" Most of the time, I did.
Now, if you were to talk with my family, friends and co-workers, you'd probably learn that there's a fairly strong argument for me to do a little more research before I make certain choices.
I try. Really, I do. And, like many people these days, I often turn to the World Wide Web for insight and enlightenment. After all, the internet has afforded each of us unfettered access to the depth and width of all human knowledge. I wouldn't go as far as to say it defines us - but there's no doubt that the internet paints a picture of us as a funny, business-centric, talented, creative, and somewhat dirty-minded species. We're like a Las Vegas show on nitrous oxide (a bit like a Cirque du Soleil performance…naked).
Still, the 'net continues to evolve. Web content is becoming more dynamic and personalized. Collaboration and social networking are bringing us together to exchange thoughts, ideas, knowledge and wisdom. (The difference between knowledge and wisdom: Knowledge is a person knowing that a jalapeño is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing this and still not putting it in a fruit salad.) And, there's a certain anonymity about the web that allows us to be more honest than we might be if we were all sitting face to face.
It is the idea of social networking for a higher purpose that lead to the creation of this site- a place where people can share and learn from life lessons. There are very few situations you'll encounter in your time on this planet that someone hasn't gone through or won't experience someday. Share information about situations and decisions here. What has real life, every day living taught you?
Lessons don't have to be monumental. Sometimes it's the simple little things that you wish you had known before you did something that make all the difference. Share the things you won't find in a manual, things sales people don't tell you, as well as the things they didn't teach you in school.
Turn a mistake into a good deed. Get behind the podium of the University of Life and teach your fellow humans.
